N2 - To prepare culture substrates for efficient expansion of neural stem cells (NSC), histidine-tagged epidermal growth factor (EGF-His) was immobilized onto the surface of self-assembled monolayers consisting of COOH- and biologically-inert triethylene glycole-terminated alkanethiols. This method afforded the culture substrates on which embryonic NSCs efficiently grew.
