The supernatant from normal liver cell (Clone 1469) culture enhanced polyclonal antibody production in mouse spleen cells but not in human peripheral blood lymphocytes. The supernatants from transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β)-treated C3H/HeN spleen cells augmented greatly polyclonal antibody responses compared with the untreated supernatants. IL-10 production and expression of mRNA for IL-10 in Clone 1469 cells was detected by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, ELISPOT assay and PCR amplification. TGF-β led to augmentation of IL-10 secretion from Clone 1469 cells.
