title = "Characterization of bone marrow cells for prognosis prediction of multiple myeloma using Raman spectroscopy with optimal discriminant model",
abstract = "Multiple Myeloma (MM) is a disease characterized by an increase in cancerous plasma cells, known as myeloma cells, which have differentiated from B cells and primarily reside in bone marrow. It usually develops from an asymptomatic precursor state, Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance (MGUS). MM generally has a poor prognosis. To distinguish Multiple Myeloma from its precursor state, which requires treatment, a comprehensive diagnosis is made through detailed examination of blood, urine, and bone marrow. The incidence of these diseases is known to increase with age. In this study, we propose a new diagnostic method for MM patients using Raman spectroscopy. This technique utilizes the interaction of light to obtain information on the molecular without labeling. Since it can be used in combination with conventional histopathological diagnosis through staining, this could lead to the development of models that are useful for clinical decision-making.",
