Preparation and characterization of Stereoregular polyphenylenemethylene

Abstract

In this presentation, we report the selective synthesis of the linear polymer (1), the hyperbranched polymer (2) and the hyperbranched polymer with cyclic structure (3) from the simple trifunctional phenolic compound : 1,3,5-trimethoxybenzene. The linear polymer (1) was Stereoregular polymer having phenylene-methylene moiety in the main chain. We also present similar Stereoregular polymer from resorcinol derivatives such as 2,6-dimethoxy-5- methylphenol, 1,2,3,5-tetramethoxybenzene, etc.
