Abstract

We have conducted basic research and development of joint metal that gives rotational rigidity to timber joints with small cross sections. By developing this concept in near future, it is possible to construct a shear resistance element having openings on the wall and floor of a small wooden building. In addition, a moment resistance element is given to the column-beam joint of large cross section, and it can be applied to the reinforcement of traditional timber buildings. This paper shows the fundamental concept and the results of the research until present.
