Abstract

Science education remains a pressing agenda with more need for global cooperation. It is particularly the case when focusing on Africa, with considering major changes and challenges of population rise, urbanization, digitalization, and sustainability crises. The University of Toyama (UT) Faculty of Education is, with close collaboration of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Education Ethiopia, undertaking a project as "Knowledge Co-Creation Program: Sustainable Learning Improvement in Science Education through Strengthening Curriculum Development, Implementation and Evaluation", whose aim to enrich teachers' capacity for conducting Competency-Based Education (CBE), along with the country's latest curriculum revision. This paper offers a preliminary analysis, based on the project's first-year activity.
