Research interests
生きた細胞内での様々な化学的プロセスや情報伝達は,タンパク質を介して実行されています.タンパク質動態を調べる際,対象タンパク質を蛍光タンパク質や蛍光性有機化合物で標識し,顕微鏡で観察する手法が広く使われています.生きた一つ一つの細胞内の分子過程を観察する場合,この手法は強力です.しかし,蛍光団を励起するために照射する光は生体組織に吸収されてしまうため,蛍光標識という手法は生きた動物個体内のタンパク質動態解析には適しません.そこで私は発光タンパク質ルシフェラーゼを用いることで,生体内でのタンパク質動態が変化して初めて生体組織を透過する光シグナルを発する機能的タンパク質を開発してきました.
