A possible method to construct an N→M quantum-cloning circuit in order to estimate the number of controlled-NOT gates in it was investigated. Thus, the number of controlled-NOT gates as O(22M(M-N)2(2-2N+M-1/2)), with N and M the numbers of input and output qubits was estimated, respectively. Hence, the number of gates in the quantum-cloning circuit of the type was always exponential with respect to the number of output qubits.
