The acetic acid solvents were applied during preparation of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) catalysts to modify the surface properties of silica supports. The modification of silica supports by acetic acid improved the reduction degree and dispersion of supported cobalt simultaneously, realizing higher catalytic activity. The obtained catalysts were also characterized. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 8th World Congress of Chemical Engineering (Montréal, Quebec, Canada 8/23-27/2009).
