The temperature and pressure variations of optical reflectivity of liquid Se and Te have been measured in the energy range of 0.6-4.8 eV. A.C. conductivity σ(ω) has been derived by using a Kramers-Kronig and an oscillator fitting analysis. There appears a peak in the σ(ω)- curves of liquid Se around 4eV, corresponding to the transitions from lone pair to antibonding states, and the peak becomes broader at high temperatures and pressures. The A.C. observed around 2 eV in the σ(ω)-curves of liquid Te and broadens out at high temperatures and pressures. The A.C. conductivity is relatively high in the low energy range, which can be related to a change transfer between neighboring chains.
