Purpose: To report the outcome of surgery for myopic retinoschisis. Cases and Method: This review was made on 23 eyes of 20 cases who received vitreous surgery for myopic retinoschisis in the past 40 months. The series comprised 5 male and 18 female eyes. The age averaged 64 years. Optical coherence tomography was used to evaluate the macula. Nine eyes with foveal schisis received additional gas tamponade. Out of 14 eyes with foveal detachment, initial 9 eyes only received additional gas tamponade. Eyes with macular hole were excluded. Visual acuity was evaluated as logMAR. Results: Corrected visual acuity averaged 0.88 ±0.59 before and 0.68 ±0.64 after surgery. The difference was significant (p<0.01). Retinoschisis resolved in more than 50% of eyes during 12 months after surgery. Macular hole developed in 2 eyes with foveal schisis and in one eye with foveal detachment. Conclusion: Visual acuity improved after vitreous surgery for myopic retinoschisis. Adjunct use of gas tamponade did not influence the visual outcome.
