Architecture in the 20th century recorded dialogues, starting from “The Form Follows Function”, till “Human lives anywhere”. In the eve of the Internet and the multi lingual digital communication, architecture evoked memories via dialogues beyond geographical limitation; Toyo Ito was one of them who took path to engage Rem Koolhaas, who was starting to form new domain for architecture. Koolhaas read the confusion that New York City has brought about to the 20th century upon which Toyo Ito, based in other metropolis to today, reacted by means of architectural form. Toyo Ito, not only produced numbers of project but also raised the following generation that inject life in the architectural scene in Japan. How are these dialogue came about? What was the exact subjects that intrigued Ito and his immediate surrounding? What made this a generic subject in the Japanese architectural scene? Yushi Uehara takes the view and explains it with critical yet audacious foot steps.
