Abstract

The CNR and distortion of a 1.55- μm AM-SCM video transmission system are worsened by the dispersion of the 1.3 μ m zero-dispersion fiber. Distortion is also increased by the EDFA gain tilt. Both problems are shown to be corrected by the use of dispersion equalizers and gain tilt equalizers. The application of the equalizers to SCM video transmission systems is proposed.
