Abstract

Panoramic Annular Lens (PAL) is an optical system which enables the capturing of an omni-directional view using one lens. However, panoramic image generation from a PAL image has a problem, namely that the region near the center of the PAL image has a low resolution. We already proposed a quality improvement method using multiple PAL images of different zoom rates to solve this problem. In this paper, we evaluate the quality improvement by investigating the subjective assessment and verify the usefulness of our proposed method.
