Abstract
We have demonstrated short microwave pulse generation (-4 ns) from a long pulse microwave source (9 GHz) by laser-produced overdenseplasma. The cw microwave propagating in the waveguide was sliced bylaser-produced plasma at two different points along the waveguide and the generated pulse duration was defined by the group velocity of the microwave in the waveguide and the length between twopoints. Furthermore, we obtained twice the power of the pulse by adding the two pulses generated by this mechanism. The results are in good agreement with theory.
