Abstract

There is an increasing focus on developing applications for dendrimers as liquid crystalline materials. Recently, we have reported a newly desinged dendritic liquid crystalline compound having an anthracene moiety at the focal point and found a regioselective photodimerization of the anthracene in liquid crystalline state. This paper describes the synthesis, self-assembly, and photoreactivity of anthracene having two dendritic substituents.
