Abstract
Willgerodt-Kindler type polycondensation of dialdehydes and diamines in the presence of sulfur afforded polythioamides. Similar reaction of poly(allylamine) with benzaldehyde in the presence of sulfur allowed to an introduction of thioamide units in the side chain of polyolefin. The obtained polymers exhibited effective adsorption properties toward precious metals such as Au, Pt, and Pd. The selective adsorption and separation behaviors of the polymers from the mixture solutions of precious metals have been examined.
