Abstract

The unprecedented oxide transfer reaction from CO32- to the carbonyl complex, [Ru(bpy)2(CO)2]2+ in aprotic media is described. The oxide transfer proceeds via the 1:1 adduct formation, to afford Ru(bpy)2(CO)(η1-CO2) and CO2.
