Abstract

Organic electroluminescent devices using erbium (Er) and Er-based compounds for cathode metals have been investigated. Better emission characteristics are obtained for device structure of ITO/ triphenylamine derivative (TPD)/aluminum complex (Alq)/Er and ErF3/Al compared with that of LiF/Al as a cathode metal. Based on Schottky emission analysis, barrier height is obtained to be 0.65eV for Alq3/Er interface and 0.53eV for Alq3/ErF3 interface.
