Abstract

The effect of Ag or Cu on the morphology of equilibrium phase in Al-Mg-Si alloy has been investigated. There is a few reports about it on the metastable phase and equilibrium phase. The rectangle shape precipitate was observed in three alloys (Al-Mg-Si with/without Ag or Cu) aged at 673K. The hexagonal-shaped precipitate was observed in Ag added alloy aged at 673K. The precipitates of Cu or Ag addition alloy were finer than that of base alloy. The number density of precipitates in Cu or Ag addition alloy was much higher than that of the base alloy.
