Abstract

The high-field magnetization and the temperature variation of magnetic susceptibility in Ce1-xLaxFe2Ge2 were examined to better understand the metamagnetic anomaly in CeFe2Ge2. A metamagnetic anomaly from a non-magnetic ground state on single crystalline CeFe2Ge2 and Ce1-xLaxFe2Ge2 was observed at H = 300 kOe. For Ce1-xLaxFe2Ge2, the metamagnetic anomaly smeared out for x≥0.1. However, no magnetic order or non-Fermi-liquid behavior was observed for x≤0.2, in contrast with the case of Ce1-xLaxRu2Si2 in which the magnetic instability was reported for x = 0.08.
