Abstract

For various Cr-Mo steels containing 1 to 5% chromium, creep rupture ductility and notched sensitivity of the weld HAZ were improved by increasing Cr content. This is attributed to reducing gamma / alpha transformation temperatures, avoiding the formation of Mo//2C carbides and decreasing the size of grain boundary carbides.
