Abstract

CT-based and MRI-based treatment planning in brachytherapy has been implemented since the GEC-ESTRO gynecology working group published recommendations. Individualized 3D image-based treatment planning has an advantage in optimizing dose to the clinical target volume (CTV) as well as sparing dose to the adjacent critical organs. In Japan, impact of the dose volume parameter of image-based brachytherapy on clinical outcome should be investigated originally because radiotherapy schedule used in the published reports was different from Japanese one.
