Abstract

Long wires (with a length of 5 mm) of a thin permalloy layer (with a thickness of 300 angstroms) deposit on the base of a V-grooved Si single crystal were kept in a semi-adiabatic condition below 100 mK in a 3He-4He dilution refrigerator. A small heat production accompanied with the magnetization process of the sample was successfully detected by a small-size resistance thermometer. The high sensitivity of the detection is greatly due to a very small value of the heat capacity of the system of measurement at very low temperature realized by the use of the dilution refrigerator.
