Abstract

The chemical fixation of carbon dioxide with 1,2-epoxypropane was catalysed by tetra-t-butylphthalocyaninatoaluminiura(III) acetate, tetra-t-butylphthalocyaninatoaluminium(III) trimethylsilanolate and tetra-t-butylphthalocyaninatoaluminium(III) triphenylsilanolate in the presence of tetrabutylammonium iodide or triethyl (2-hydroxypropyl) ammonium iodide at room temperature. Propane-1,2-diol carbonate was prepared from carbon dioxide and 1,2-epoxypropane via a six-membered ring-intermediate. Depending on an axial ligand of the complex, the fixation proceeded via an hexacoordinated intermediate (for the complex with chloride or hydroxide as the axial ligand) or a six-membered ring-intermediate (for the complex with acetate or silanolate).
