Abstract

The application of Er-doped fiber amplifiers to AM-FDM and FM-FDM video distribution systems is discussed. The intermodulation distortion and the noise characteristics are the important factors in multi-channel analog video amplification. The Er-doped fiber amplifiers have adequate characteristics for all optical video distribution systems according to multi-cascade amplification experiments. Er-doped fiber amplifiers will play an important role in the construction of multi-channel and high-quality video distribution systems.
