Abstract

Emission spectra of Cs-He excimers in cold helium gas were investigated. Experiment was performed with a Pyrex glass cell which contained a small amount of Cs metal and He gas at pressure of about 3.5 atm at room temperature. Bulk Cs metal was immersed in liquid He at 1.6 K, and sputtered its surface with pulsed Nd:YLiF4 laser. The relative populations of the vibrational states of Cs*He gas densities was estimated from the spectral range.
