Abstract
This paper reports an the design and development of a low cost repulsive type magnetic bearing: in which the radial bearing section has been achieved by the utilization of repulsive forces acting between the stator and rotor permanent magnets A new type of permanent magnet configuration has been analyzed by the finite element method to obtain better stiffness. For axial stabilization an H-infinity controller has been configured around ii digital signal processor to stabilize the bearing system A prototype system is designed and experiments are carried out.
