Abstract
A procedure to compute intensity distributions generated by the Mie scattering from a single coated sphere is described, and applied to a nanoshell and a microshell. The obtained information on the nearfield intensity and the absorbed energy density is shown to be useful in predicting optical properties of the core-shell structure for applications.
