Abstract

Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) was carried out for a 80-year-old man with a gastric adenoma located in the gastric antrum. Histological examination of the resected specimen by means of EMR revealed gastric adenoma with complete resection. 11 months later endoscopy showed a Yamada type III polyp at the resection site. Biopsy specimen was obtained from the polyp. Histological examination showed hyperplasia of the foveolar epithelium. In Japan, 13 cases were reported which were similar to our case. All hyperplastic polyps were limitedly only in the gastric antrum.
