Abstract

In 1987. in order to understand the deformation propertis of Al-Mg billets having feathery crystals recrystallization and tensile tests have been caried out. The recrystallization temperature and curves are not influenced by feathery structure. however recrystallized grains in feathery crystal billets are more homogeneous and finer than in the granular or columnar billets. The feathery crystal billets are more extensible as compeared with other structural billets. particurarly the featery specimen which is cut parallel to the billet axis and deformed to the<110>.direction on twin plane shows the lagest elongation of about 63% in all specimens at room temperature.
