Project Details

Abstract

We tried to isolate arginine kinase isoenzymes from cell body and cilia of Paramecium caudatum. Aithough the arginine kinases from Paramecium were unstable and rapidly lost their activities, we partially purified arginine kinases from deciliation medium and cilia using anion exchange chromatography, hydroxylapatite chromatography and gel filtration. The molecular weights of arginine kinases from cell body and cilia were estimated 46kDa and 42kDa, respectively. These isoenzyme must contribute to supplying energy as members of phosphoarginine shuttle system.
